I got to see this MK1 in the flesh which was an experience on its own. In Olympic blue with dark blue decals I was in love. To see a perfectly restored Escort was something special.
When the bonnet was open it was so clean and new looking I couldn’t believe the level of detail the restoration team had put in. It was perfect inside and out.
The RS2000 was a 4 cylinder 2Litre 110bhp pocket rocket that was released between 1973 and 1975. A rally car at heart, but this one, most likely going to be treasured away from the track.
I drew this in the workshop it was restored in. The shell in the background is what it looked like just 6 months ago. I wanted to get the environment just right, making sure to illustrate the little details like plug sockets and the lighting. What better location than where it was reborn.
Totalling 30 hours to complete, this is probably one of the most detailed drawings I have done in a while.
