Description

This poster is pretty deep to be honest. Robin Williams came across as one of the happiest people ever. He was funny, always smiling, always making everyone else feel better. One of my absolute favourite actors, he radiated joy.

Little did I know he was fighting his own battles with severe depression and anxiety which sadly resulted in him ending his own life in August 2014.

Men’s mental health, even though it has had some focus in recent years, is still very much a second thought for a lot of people. The incredible pressures of society specifically on men to be tough, to be a provider, to be a fixer, to be aware of everyone else, are one of the reasons why suicide rates are so high. I personally have been struggling with severe depression for a very long time. This picture is meant to be a reminder that men’s mental health matters too and that something as simple as a coffee and a chat can be the release that someone needs to handle the difficult world in which we live. The exterior could look as joyful as Robin, but behind that smile be incredible grief.

The bad men in the world (and there are a lot of them unfortunately) create such a stigma that we deserve less which is not fair. I am a strong advocate for better mental health for men.

“Let’s Talk” written with the Adobe font perfectly named “Shadows Into Light”.

50% of all sales for this picture will be donated to a men’s mental health charity.
